Install SharePoint Service on Windows Vista

Following the instruction from

http://community.bamboosolutions.com/blogs/bambooteamblog/archive/2008/05/21/how-to-install-windows-sharepoint-services-3-0-sp1-on-vista-x64-x86.aspxSet

with the provided Setup Helper File, I have finally installed SharePoint Service 3.0 on my Windows Vista laptop.

After installation I tried to access the central administration web application but encountered a little difficulty: I couldn't pass the basic http authentication eventhough I entered the correct username and password.

What the h*ll is going on?

After some tries I decided to bring up the IIS 7 management console and checked the authorization section on th SharePoint site.

No entries were there and the access rule list was empty!

I fixed this by adding my Windows logon account, which had already been set as the administration account for SharePoint, into the allow list.

Then it worked! Laughing
